The work of Headwaters falls into four program areas: grantmaking, capacity building, donor education and donor advised funds. The combination of these programs and partnerships with other funders is designed to build a strong movement for justice in our region.
The Main Street Project uses technology and training to help marginalized urban and rural communities get their voices heard and build collective power.
“I’m moved by Headwaters’ ability to understand that big change doesn’t happen by throwing money at huge organizations that have all of the bells and whistles – they know that real change comes out of funding the organizing power of the people,” Espejel said.
